Following the release of his song, “Be Free,” J. Cole traveled to Ferguson, Missouri to pay his respect to Mike Brown.

Most of you youngsters, especially the hip hop crew, won’t know who this guy is but last night was a pretty big deal. I was never a big fan of his music but I thought it was cool as hell that Billy Bragg came to town and performed at one of my neighborhood bar/restaurants, The Royale, here in South St. Louis. The owner, Steve Smith, used the event to collect donations for the protesters and people of Ferguson. Though he’s not from North County (the huge area where the Ferguson suburb is located), Steve’s been out in the streets all week. Eric Holder is here now and J. Cole was here earlier in the week. Along with the tweets from Gaza, Turkey, and the support shown from seemingly everywhere (did you see Times Square?) I hope everyone in Ferguson realizes this struggle is worldwide.

Also live feeds keep going down and new ones pop back up but I know some of you are sensitive to video, so

Please add @TefPoe to this list. He’s an MC here in St. Louis and grew up by where this is all going on. He’s been in Ferguson since right after Michael Brown was killed and has been giving updates and commentary on what’s really going on in the streets (the stuff the media isn’t showing). Follow him on instagram and Facebook also.
